Gallon-2 (Difficulty Level : Medium)

You are mixing cement and the recipe calls for five gallons of water. You have a garden hose giving you all the water you need. The problem is that you only have a four gallon bucket and a seven gallon bucket and nether has graduation marks. Find a method to measure five gallons.

  1. Simple; Fill the 7 gallon bucket. Pour water into the 4 gallon bucket until it is filled. Then pour out the contents of the 4 gallon bucket. Pour the remaining 3 gallons into the 4 gallon bucket. Fill the 7 gallon bucket again. Transfer 1 gallon from the 7 gallon bucket to the 4 gallon bucket, filling it. Pour out the 4 gallon bucket. Then, transfer water from the 7 gallon bucket to the 4 gallon bucket until it is filled. There will be 2 gallons left in the 7 gallon bucket.

  2. 1. Fill the four gallon bucket.
    2. Pour into the seven gallon bucket from the four gallon bucket.
    3. Repeat above two steps once more. One gallon is left in the four gallon bucket.
    4. Dump the seven gallon bucket.
    5. Pour into the seven gallon bucket from the four gallon bucket.
    6. Fill the four gallon bucket.
    7. Pour into the seven gallon bucket from the four gallon bucket. The seven gallon bucket now has five gallons.
