  4. The dot over a number signifies that it is a repeater which would go on for ever, as when we endeavor to describe 1/3 decimally as 0.33333 . . . . (etc)
With a series of numbers we place the dot over the first and last, as with 0.97979797979 . . . (etc)
The remarkable feature being that a proper fraction divided by 9s e.g. 46/99 is exactly equal to the numerator with the repeater sign followed by the decimal.

  11. A dot over a decimal denotes a repeated number. What some are trying to show is that 80 + .5(with one dot above) + . 97(With two dots above) +.46(With two dots above) = 82 (This way has the seven numbers and eight dots). Written out as eighty plus point five repeated plus point ninety sever repeated plus point forty six repeated equals eighty one point ninety nine repeated or eighty two. It can also be expressed as 80 + 55/99 + 97/99 + 46/99 = 81+ 99/99 or 82.
