TinTin Logic Riddle

TinTin Logic Riddle - 23 November

TinTin is on an island and there are three crates of fruit that have washed up in front of him. One crate contains only apples. One crate contains only oranges. The other crate contains both apples and oranges.

Each crate is labeled. One reads 'apples', one reads 'oranges', and one reads 'apples and oranges'. He know that NONE of the crates have been labeled correctly - they are all wrong.

If he can only take out and look at just one of the pieces of fruit from just one of the crates, how can he label ALL of the crates correctly?

and if it is Orange, Then

  2. Let TinTin choose crate labeled apples then
If the fruit is apple then it is 'apples and oranges' and rest oranges crate has apples and 'apple and oranges' has orange.
If the fruit is orange then it is 'apples' and rest and rest oranges crate has apples and oranges both and 'apple and oranges' has apples.

  3. 1. TinTin draw one piece of fruit from the Crate labled both Apple and Orange. Either this fruit will be Apple or Orange.
    2. If this fruit is Apple then this crate which is labled as "Both Apple and Orange" contains only Apples.
And As we know Crate which is labled as "Oranges" doesn't contain Oranges so it can only contain either "Apples" or "both Apples and Oranges". But Apple has been found in the Crate labled as "Both Apple and Oranges" so this crate (labled as "Oranges") actually contains both Apples and Oranges. and in this way third crate which is labled as "Apples" actually contains "Oranges".

In this way we can Correct the Labels.

If drawn fruit is Orange, we can apply same procedure to coorect the lables.

All the three crates should be lifted and seggregated depending on weight( lighter heavier and heaviest) crate containing both will not be the lighter one
Select one from the lighter crate
if the chosen is apple then the lighter contains apples , heavier(or average of light and heaviest) contains both apple and orange, the heaviest will contain oranges
The either way is also true(if orange in lighter crate)
