There are 62 squares of size 1x1.

  2. For the small squares (1..3 in size) the number is (9-n)^2-2*n^2 so you get 62, 41 and 18 squares of size 1..3 (total 121) for the rest it's easier to count what's allowed. There's 1 of size 5 and 6 of size 4 so that's an overall total of 126.

    Typo by you Aadi?

  6. 62 + 41 + 18 + 6 + 1 = 128 squares without a rook.
