  3. all variables in years

    grandson * 365 = son * 52
    grandson * 12 = grandfather
    grandson + son + grandfather = 140

    grandson + son + 12 grandson = 140
    13 grandson + son = 140
    son = 365/52 * grandson
    13 grandson + ~7* grandson = 140
    20 grandson = 140

    grandson = 7
    grandfather = 7 * 12 = 84
    son = 7 * 7 = 49

  4. Variables in age of grandson, days:
    x+7x+84x=140*365
    92x=51100
    x=555.43 days, or 1.52 years.
    7x=3888.01 days, or 10.65 years.
    84x=46656.12 days, 127.82 years.
    Total adds to 139.99, just about 140 (rounding).
