  1. As .we can see that it is already mention that .....sherlock holmes have 'ON the cassette recorder'...
'Then who have off the recorder after the gun shot'
it simply mean that murder have first done a fake confession of the man ....and then murder him and off the recoder..to show that it is a sucide.

    1. of course it's a murder, someone stop the recorder after the gun shot in the sense that sherlock turn the recorder ON.

    2. Just to be difficult - some cassette recorders will play on until they get to the end and then automatically rewind. Having said that if the gunshot is the last thing recorded then this is not the case.

  4. the recording was manipulated because the victim meant to say something else, but the killer took that recording and just added "following a gunshot" which doesn't fit so much with the first part of the saying.

  5. if he commits suicide why is he slumped on the chair and not by the table where the cassette player is because obviously if he did commit suicide he would have done it and the cassette player would be the closes thing to him

  6. Its a murder because..since he commited sins..god musta killed him.so its pretty onvious that god is the killer making it a murder.

  7. He knew it was a murder because someone re winded the cassette tape to start at the beginning upon pressing play.

  9. The man was murdered because if after he made that confession and shot himself, the tape would still have been rolling(that is recording) but, when Sherlock pressed play, the tape started from the beginning of the confession, meaning someone rewinded it. If it wasnt touched then when holmes pressed play, he would have heard nothing at all until he rewinds the tape himself, but it started from the beginning meaning someone else took it backward in this case the murderer. I hope you get the picture

  10. FUNNY SOLUTION BY YOU...... ACTUAL REASON WHY SHERLOCK SMILED IS BECAUSE HOW CAN A DEAD PERSON CAN PUT THE RECORDER BACK ON THE TABLE AFTER COMMITTING SUCIDE.....

  11. Sherlock smiled because there was no sound of gun being dropped on the floor.Which should have being there if it was a societ.

  12. It may be a suicide case such as that for the 1st time he record his voice and make the gunshot sound by targetting the gun point somewhere else and then take the tape off the recorder and keep it on the table and then for the 2nd time he really shoot him showing it as murder

  14. It it was a suicide, then who stopped the recording?

  15. It was obviously a murder.
Sherlock played the tape and it started from the beginning. Now at the end of the tape the gun shot went off, meaning the guy would have already be dead. But like I said Sherlock played the tape and it started from the beginning so that means there had to someone else in the room to start the tape to the beiggining

  16. It was a murder.
A dead guy cant put the tape back to the beginning. At the end of the tape sherlock heard a gun shot meaning the guy is already dead and the tape would have stayed at the end. In the riddle the guy starts talking, so someone had to be in the room to start the tape recording back to the beginning. So that had to be the killer.

  17. How did the cassette recorder came to the table it should be on the floor..

  18. Dear god! Keep the tape thing aside besides the fact that it holds. If the victim would have shot himself on the head assuring hardly a little distance between the gun and the head, the bullet would have passed out from behind his head as the skull's obviously not hard enough to resist the momentum of the bullet. Bafflingly simple ;)
